More than 5,000 customers experienced power outages overnight due to the strong winds and rain Wednesday night.

Power has been restored in most areas. More than 1,000 Snohomish County PUD customers were still in the dark through the early hours of Thursday morning. As of 7:30 a.m., however, the number of customers without power dropped to fewer than 300 customers.

Though the Puget Sound Energy Outage map showed only 199 customers without power around 6 a.m., the number increased to nearly 1,000 customers by 7:30 a.m.

The heavy rain also caused trees to fall. One tree knocked down power lines in Bothell, near Frank Love Elementary. The tree is cleared but power lines are still on the road.

The National Weather Service reports that approximately 40 lightning strikes were recorded in the region overnight. More than half of those occurred in Grays Harbor County.

Though the storm has tapered off, KIRO 7 Meteorologist Nick Allard says we can expect pockets of heavy showers throughout the day.

The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning that remains in effect until 10 p.m. Thursday.
