The cherry trees at the University of Washington are in full bloom this week.
If you can’t make it to the Quad on campus, check in with the Yoshino cherry trees themselves on Twitter. The school is also streaming the event on UWTV.
Searching for Seattle’s trees o’ history
It can be a zoo on campus for Mother Nature’s big show.
If you’d rather skip the crowds, check out the Washington Park Arboretum, which isn’t too far from the UW campus. The Seattle Japanese Garden is also there and features cherry trees. Seward Park was the original location of Seattle’s annual Cherry Blossom Festival. You’ll also find cherry trees at Jefferson Park.
There are 31 of the trees lining the Quad on the university’s campus. UW says once the trees do bloom, you have about three weeks before they begin to drop from the trees.
The university said the trees are toward the end of their natural life cycle and it has replacements growing in a nursery.
