A child was ejected from a vehicle during a crash on I-5 near Arlington Thursday afternoon, causing the closure of the freeway and a 4.5-mile backup. All lanes were reopened at 3:20 p.m.
The child was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center, according to the Washington State Patrol. The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital. Both are in stable condition.
Both directions of I-5 were closed in Snohomish County after the serious crash. The northbound lanes reopened just before 1:20 p.m. A 4.5 mile backup resulted when multiple lanes of southbound I-5 were closed to investigate the scene.
