Seattle police, joined by firefighters and the public, took up the lip-sync challenge from the Norfolk, Virginia Police Department Tuesday evening.

The crowd performed the song “Downtown” by local hip hop artists Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.

The department has a “few more shots to get in the coming days” before the video is finished. But, “we hope the final cut will make all of Seattle proud.”

You can watch a portion of the performance in the video below:

“Downtown” was among a range of songs locals suggested that SPD perform. Listen to the song here (mature language warning). Other suggestions included “Singing in the Rain,” “Posse on Broadway” by Sir Mix A Lot, and “It’s Raining Men.”

The original video for “Downtown” was filmed in Spokane. But the song does reference various Seattle locales, such as Pike Place Market.

Police agencies across America have been challenging each other to make lip-sync videos in an attempt to humanize cops. The challenges began in Texas. Perhaps the most popular lip-sync performance has come from police in Norfolk, Virginia. After their video went viral, they challenged the Seattle Police Department.

Norfolk performed to “Uptown” funk by Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson. SPD also chose a modern pop hit, unlike other agencies in Washington state, who seem to really like boy bands.
