It may be hard to believe after the heat wave we’ve had, but it’s actually fairly uncommon for the Seattle area to hit 90 degrees several times in the month of July.

RELATED: We should be preparing for worsening air quality

Since 1945, there have been four months of July where temperatures in Seattle have reached 90 degrees, five times or more.

There’s a chance this could be the fifth July since 1945 where we see at least five days with temperatures in the 90s.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Dustin Guy says though it may cool before the weekend, it will warm back up. There’s a possibility we could once again hit the low 90s over the weekend.

This is a “bit of an abnormal pattern in our area,” Guy said.

“We certainly see days of 80s and 90s on most summers, but to see an extended period like this is certainly unusual,” he added. “Generally speaking, looking back, we only see 90-degree days in July once or twice per month.”

As of Wednesday morning, there were no heat advisories in the Puget Sound region. It was too early for Guy to say if we’ll see another advisory like we did earlier this week.
