Dori: Thanks to illegal immigrants, you now need an enhanced driver’s license to fly

driver's license...

I will never understand Progressives. Here in Washington, I’ve got to pay more and you’ve got to pay more if you’re a citizen. Because starting in a few months, Sea-Tac and every other airport in the country will not accept the current Washington state driver’s license as ID as per federal law.

Why is that? Because we give driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants here in Washington. So you can’t verify that someone with a Washington state driver’s license is a citizen.

Now you’ve got to get an enhanced driver’s license to fly. To do that, you’ve got to prove you’re a citizen with a birth certificate or passport or legit social security card — legit being the key word here. And you’ve got to pay more for it. It costs us money to prove we’re citizens, but illegal immigrants can still use the cheaper driver’s license, as long as they aren’t flying anywhere.

The Los Angeles Times has an op-ed piece discussing the Real ID law. This is a glimpse of the insanity of the mind of a liberal.

Real ID won’t make us safer, it will only divide us … Equally troubling is the further development of what we might call a two-tier America, based on immigration status and economic opportunity.

Well, yeah — that’s the whole point. Based on immigration status. This system is designed to sort out who is a legal citizen and who is an illegal alien. So the LA Times is railing against a two-tiered society of citizens and illegal immigrants. What’s wrong with that?

At the end of the op-ed piece, the guy says that terrorism “remains an abstraction to most of us,” which is another reason why we don’t have to do this, apparently. Yeah, tell the families in San Bernardino that terrorism is an abstraction. Tell the family of the 3-year-old whose body was found in the New Mexico compound where a bunch of Muslim extremists were teaching children to go shoot up schools — tell them that terrorism is an abstraction. When a liberal complains about a two-tier America where we’re divided between citizens and illegal aliens, I say, “Well, of course. We should be.” They decry that as something horrible. I’m just ticked that we, as citizens, are the ones who have to pay more.

How about this: keep our enhanced driver’s licenses at the same price, and if illegal immigrants want driver’s licenses, make those $300 licenses to subsidize the citizens.
