Additional suspects sought in Seattle double homicide

Jun 4, 2014, 5:43 PM | Updated: 11:10 pm

Seattle Police are looking for additional suspects in a double homicide after a shooting early Sunday morning in the Leschi neighborhood.

Ahmed Said, 27, and Dwone Anderson-Young, 23, were found dead at 29th and King St. on June 1st.

One man was arrested, 26-year-old Matalepuna Malu, after police received information linking him to the murders.

Malu remains in the King County Jail for a federal warrant and an assault investigation. The assault happened before the shooting and is not believed to be related.

Detectives say they recovered one of the victims’ cars, a Mitsubishi Galant, abandoned on Wabash Avenue and S. Cloverdale Street, earlier this week.

“We’ve recovered a vehicle and we know that vehicle was moved. It obviously didn’t move on its own. So we know there is at least one other suspect involved,” said Assistant Police Chief Carmen Best in a news conference held with Seattle Mayor Ed Murray on Wednesday.

Best said they don’t have a motive for the double-homicide, but they are not taking anything off the table.

“This is a tragic murder that has affected all of Seattle, but in particular three communities within Seattle, the African American community of this city, the east African Somalian community of this city, and now the gay lesbian bisexual transgender community of this city,” Murray said.
