Warmer than average temperatures and below normal precipitation continue to be the trend this summer, according to the latest seasonal weather outlook from the National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center.
In fact, this trend is anticipated to continue into the fall and winter, thanks to a stronger El Nino that plays a key role in our winter weather.

Unless there is at least one significant precipitation event, fire danger is going to be a major concern statewide. This year’s fire season is off to an early start and may extend into early fall.
It is important that everyone avoids any outdoor burning this summer unless it is in designated locations. In addition, avoid tossing any burning materials — like cigarette butts — out of vehicles.
There have already been a number of roadside fires this month. Another concern is fireworks. The best advice is to avoid using fireworks this year and enjoy your local community show on the Fourth of July.
