The number of vehicles being stolen in Seattle is on the rise.
That’s according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, which says the amount of stolen vehicles increased between 2013 and 2014.
The number of vehicles stolen per capita in the Seattle/Tacoma/Bellevue region was 20,268 in 2014, according to the bureau. That’s up from 18,128 in 2013.
Vehicle thefts are actually down “dramatically” around the country, according to the bureau.
Seattle ranks No. 8, behind Vallejo/Fairfield, Calif. and Spokane and the Spokane Valley. Though there were far fewer vehicle thefts in the Spokane region (3,032) the amount per capita is high, which is why it made No. 6 on the list.
San Francisco/Oakland/Hayward, Calif. topped the list, with 29,093 vehicle thefts in 2014.
