Somewhere beneath this well-known Seattle intersection of Queen Anne Avenue and Roy Street are parked two 16-ton "counterbalance" cars that used to help trolleys go up and down Queen Anne Hill.

Brick gutters can still be seen along Queen Anne Avenue, where trolley cars once climbed up and down using "counterbalance" cars running beneath the street in a hidden tunnel.
