As drivers hit the roads this morning conditions may not be ideal.

Light snow fell Sunday night in many areas of Western Washington. That coupled with freezing temperatures could make for slick roadways during the Monday morning commute.

Many schools this morning, particularly in the southwest interior, are running two hours late because of the weather. Those include the Tacoma, University Place, Fife, and Puyallup School Districts.

Check school closings and delays

A winter weather advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. for the Tacoma area and east Puget Sound lowlands. That includes the I-5 corridor from Tacoma south through Lewis County.

Most of the interior lowlands of Western Washington will see light snow or flurries this morning, according to the National Weather Service. Light freezing rain is possible in the Cascade foothills and from Tacoma southward. Little to no accumulation is expected.

Warmer air will move in later in the morning, according to the National Weather Service. Most of the Puget Sound region should mainly see rain by Monday afternoon.
