Paul Allen, Microsoft co-founder and owner of the Seattle Seahawks, said on Monday that the non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma he battled in 2009 has returned.

Allen, 65, said he will continue to stay involved with the Seahawks, Trail Blazers, Allen Institutes, and Vulcan, and has confidence in their leadership teams while he undergoes treatment.

He said that he and his doctors are optimistic about the results from the latest therapies to treat non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

“I am very grateful for the support I’ve received from my family and friends,” Allen wrote on his website. “And I’ve appreciated the support of everyone on the teams and in the broader community in the past, and count on that support now as I fight this challenge.”

According to Forbes.com, in 2009, when Allen was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, his sister, Jody, said, “For those who know Paul’s story, you know he beat Hodgkin’s a little more than 25 years ago, and he is optimistic he can beat this, too.”
