Police are investigating after a 30-year-old woman was stabbed at Seattle Center on Friday afternoon.

The stabbing happened at the Armory food court before 4:30 p.m.

The woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. She later died of her injuries.

A suspect, identified as David Lee Morris, was taken into custody. He was booked into King County Jail for investigation of first-degree murder charges. He’s expected in court on Monday.

The victim is believed to be Morris’ domestic partner.

The couple’s 5-year-old boy was at the scene when the woman was stabbed, and police were caring for him Friday night in coordination with Child Protective Services.

Several witnesses took video of the apprehension.

The Armory, built in 1939, was converted for the 1962 World’s Fair, which also built the nearby Space Needle. The Armory is a gathering space for events and also had more than a dozen eateries, including a Starbucks and Subway. More than 3,000 free public performances occur in Seattle Center Armory each year, according to center staff.
