Have you made your donation to the Amanda Knox wedding?

Amanda Knox is best known for being accused of murdering someone while on a University of Washington study abroad program, spending years in an Italian jail, and then being acquitted. I never followed the story at the time, so I have no opinion on whether she committed the crime or not. But, that’s what she is famous for.

Now, Knox is asking the public for donations to cover her “out-of-this-world wedding” to her fiancé Christopher Robinson.

Knox and her fiancé say that they don’t have enough money to cover the kind of wedding they want to have, which is apparently space-themed. They have started a website –which I won’t give the link to — that is their registry, but they say that they don’t need any more stuff; they just want money to pay for their wedding.

“Now we’re asking for help so that we can shower our friends and family with love and celebration! Instead of a traditional registry, we are asking for donations towards the cost of the wedding,” the website reads. “Whether you’re attending or not, all are welcome to donate to specific costs, or at a patron level.”

For $500, you can be a “stellar patron.” For $1,000, you can contribute as a “galactic patron.”  For donations of $2,000 or more, you can be a “temporal patron.” You can also choose to donate $25 or $50 specifically to the venue, the light and sound, the desserts, the band, the costumes, or the photography. Everybody who donates will get a signed copy of the poetry book that she and her fiance wrote together.

I wish those kids the very best. I think that starting out a life together as moochers is a very solid foundation for a wonderful future.
