Who loves Lucy? King County certainly does.

The name “Lucy” recently made two top 10 lists in the Seattle region: the No. 1 name given to cats and the No. 2 name given to dogs in King County during 2015.

Regional Animal Services of King County tallied the names of pets licensed within its area and came up with the top trend of pet names. Based on the results, it’s clear King County residents have a preference for similar names. “Lucy” is not the only name to make both lists. In fact, nearly half of the lists for dogs and cats are the same names.

“Bella” was the top dog name in 2015. It was also the No. 3 name for cats. “Charlie” made both lists, too. It was the fifth most popular name for cats, and the No. 7 most popular for dogs. The name “Max” also appeared on the lists for dogs and cats &#8212 No. 4 and No. 2 respectively. It is not known if the release of “Mad Max: Fury Road” had anything to do with that.

While the list may be of interest to dog and cat owners, it is part of an effort by animal services to encourage pet owners to license their pets.

“Licensing your pets is one of the most important things you can do as a pet owner,” said Metropolitan King County Council Member Reagan Dunn. “Licensing your pet not only helps to protect your pet if it ever becomes lost, it also helps fund the life-saving work of Regional Animal Services of King County.”
