The BBC reported on a private event in Singapore, where Barack Obama declared that if women ran every nation “there would be significant improvements across the board on just about everything.” He added that “women…I can say pretty indisputably are better than us…If you look at the world and look at the problems, it’s usually old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way.”

Could this be a subtle shot at his own party’s presidential frontrunners– Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders–who are two such elderly males? The only significant female contender, Elizabeth Warren, is already past 70.

President Obama might be signaling his preference for a surprise nominee emerging from a deadlocked convention, where no candidate gets a first ballot majority. Michelle Obama is female, and only 55. Though she insists she won’t run, her husband may yet try to persuade her, guaranteeing an epic battle against the formidable President Trump.
