A bingo game in Edmonds is encouraging the community to support local restaurants through the purchase of holiday drinks and the chance to win prizes.

How to support local, small businesses for your holiday shopping

The month-long event is called Festive Drink Bingo, put on by the Edmonds Downtown Alliance. Participants can earn “bingos” by buying festive drink specials — both alcoholic and non-alcoholic — at 21 participating restaurants and cafes in downtown Edmonds. Each drink earns one stamp, and can be ordered to-go, or for outdoor dining when available.

“Each restaurant or café has a featured festive drink, so a holiday drink special of some sort,” said Kali Kelnero, board member for the Edmonds Downtown Alliance and owner of Kelnero bar. “For example, ours is a milk punch, which is kind of like eggnog.”

“Cranberry Rosehip Cider from Finn River is being offered by The Cheesemonger’s Table,” Kelnero said. “Engel’s Pub, they had a cute one, they called it the Santa Clausmopolitan.”

Other specials include a peppermint affogato, a hot toddy, lavender hot chocolate, a salted caramel brulee latte, and a variety of unique cocktails.

Bingo cards can be picked up at any participating location, or can be downloaded here.

Players can turn in their bingo card at Kelnero any time in January to pick up a free limited edition sticker for each bingo — across, down, or diagonal. Cards will also be entered into a drawing for one of several $10 gift cards provided by participating businesses.

Washington business experts say longer holiday shopping season this year

There is a limit of one bingo card per person, and prizes are available while supplies last. Festive Drink Bingo started Saturday, Dec. 5, and runs through the end of the month.

Kelnero says it’s a fun way to engage the community and help businesses struggling during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic through the holiday season.
