Lawmakers in Olympia have decided to embark on one of the sleaziest campaigns I’ve ever seen out of Olympia.
Gov Gregoire and the Democratic legislature have spent our state into a $10-billion hole. We are already the highest-taxed Western state in the country. Our employment is at 9.2% and growing. And this legislature has decided that tax increases are the solution to their spending problem.
But the way they’re selling this tax increase removes any doubt about how immoral and disgusting this legislature is. On Thursday, State Senator Adam Kline said people will die if we don’t vote for a tax increase. It is now clear that this was the start of the concerted, coordinated campaign in Olympia to accuse us of being killers if we don’t raise our taxes.
Friday, I talked with State Representative Eric Pettigrew who said the same thing – people will die if we don’t raise taxes. Listen to my interview with the Pettigrew here.
Then, over the weekend, the state democrats campaign of death continued. Rep. Sherry Appleton, D-Poulsbo said, “In the long run, the state of health in the state of Washington is going to deteriorate and people are going to die,”
So the message is clear – vote for higher taxes or people will die. I figure it’s time for the citizens of this state to fight fire with fire. We need a campaign slogan of our own. I’ll get the ball rolling with some of my moldy-oldie pet state government peeves:
STOP BUILDING FREEWAY SOUND BARRIERS OR PEOPLE WILL DIE
ABANDON SOUND TRANSIT OR OLD PEOPLE WILL SUFFER
ART AT SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANTS KILLS POOR PEOPLE
STATE LIQUOR STORES LEAD TO ORPHANS STARVING
COLLEGE TUITION FOR ILLEGALS SLAUGHTERS BABIES
You want help with your slogan? Here’s a list of over $1-billion in state wasteful programs that the Evergreen Freedom Foundation came up with in 2005 – and it’s gotten a lot worse since then.
The’ve set the ground rules. The critical part of the message is that whenever our governor and legislature waste money – they kill people. It’s time to fight fire with fire.
