Police are now investigating after a man shot two people at the encampment. Around 8:30 a.m., police say they received reports of gunfire from the 6800 block of 2nd Avenue Southwest, which is just across the Duwamish Waterway from Georgetown, near South Park.
Officers arrived at the scene and found an injured man and woman.
According to the SPD Blotter, witnesses told officers that a Black male in his mid-to-late 20s walked into an encampment and opened fire into a car, striking the man and a woman inside. The suspect then fled, possibly in a white Dodge sedan.
The 20-year-old man was transported to Harborview Medical Center and is in critical condition, while the woman is reported to be in serious condition.
SPD SWAT, K9, and the King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian One helicopter are all assisting in the investigation.
