Public Health — Seattle & King County is undercutting what’s in the best interest of your health and safety. It may just be the most backward agency in the country.
King County’s public health officials appear ready to implement an indoor mask mandate for the fully vaccinated. Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan confirms Public Health is about to issue some new guidance. Even though public health officials say the vaccine offers tremendous protection against COVID and there’s little reason to have a mask on when vaccinated, Public Health — Seattle & King County is ignoring the science. They’re pursuing the very anti-vaccine posture they previously condemned.
At the same time, they’re handing out syringes for heroin to anyone who asks. Are you an addict? They’ll give you a syringe that further ruins your life, no questions asked. You’re a minor? No problem. Public Health gives out needles to teens, too.
How are these decisions in our best interest?
King County Public Health is perhaps the most backward agency in the country.
They are readying a rule, it seems, to mandate fully vaccinated people to wear masks indoors.
Concurrently, they hand out heroin needles to anyone who asks for them, including CHILDREN.

Masks for vaccinated people, and needles for all?
After telling us to listen to public health experts, Public Health — Seattle & King County is reportedly on the verge of telling us to ignore public health experts. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention finally updated their old guidance, allowing the fully vaccinated to ditch masks indoors. There’s little risk.
One of the key selling points to the vaccine is ditching the mask because of the protection the COVID vaccine offers. That normalcy convinces more people to get the vaccine, which benefits everyone who wants it.
But now, under the guidance of Dr. Jeff Duchin of Public Health — Seattle & King County, we’re poised to ignore the science. He doesn’t like this science, nor the overwhelming data. He wants to keep you in masks indoors until more people are vaccinated.
But it’s a Catch-22 situation. More people would get vaccinated if they saw the benefits — like living mask-free. Unwilling to give up power, Duchin won’t allow us those benefits until we submit to his will.
Yet, at the same time, Public Health — Seattle & King County gives out needles to anyone who wants them, including teens, to shoot up heroin. It’s never safe to shoot up, yet they won’t bat an eye under Duchin’s leadership. What sense does that make?

Needle exchange program without the exchange
Public Health — Seattle & King County operates needle exchange programs, minus the exchanges.
You don’t have to exchange used needles for clean ones with Public Health. Just ask for a box of needles, and you shall receive one, regardless of your age. Public Health confirms to the Jason Rantz Show on KTTH that they will give minors syringes for drug use.
This practice is deadly. It doesn’t treat addiction; it prolongs it. Consequently, it postpones the inevitable. Addicts die from an overdose, just not from a blood-borne illness due to a used needle. This isn’t something to celebrate.
Does anyone one else see the cognitive dissonance?
Mask mandate makes no sense
The justification for indoor masks for vaccinated people makes little sense.
Some argue that it’s impossible to tell who is or isn’t vaccinated and that if you were to take off your mask, the mask-less person next to you could be lying and is unvaccinated. And? The person could be lying a month from now, or a year from now. That won’t ever change.
And the very point of getting the vaccine is to offer you a high rate of protection.
Others argue that if you get COVID while vaccinated, you may not even know it, and you could spread it to others unwittingly. And? The person I’d be giving it to is someone who is unmasked? Then why aren’t they wearing a mask?
The guidance says if you’re unvaccinated, then you should wear a mask. Don’t masks work at cutting the spread of COVID?
This is about fear and power
This latest move is about fear and power.
Duchin and others are scared of worst-case scenarios. They should look to Texas, which has fully reopened. Despite claims of mass graves from COVID, they’re doing well. They’re not suffering the mass casualties that we were told would happen. Why is that? Because they do not deny the science like our local public health officials.
Our officials also want to hang on to control. They like controlling our lives — they’ve wanted it for years. The pandemic gave them a taste, and they’ll hang on to it until the end. Well, I’m done. I got the vaccine because I’m pro-science and wanted protection. Now, I’m ready for life again.
If you’re scared of getting COVID post-vaccine, I certainly understand. The media is doing its best to scare the heck out of you. You have folks like Joy Reid who, between chasing down the non-existent hackers of her homophobic blog, is telling you how she will be double masking even while fully vaccinated. They’re trying to scare you.
If you’d like to wear a mask, wear one. Wear it forever if you’d like. I think it isn’t very reasonable, but you’re an adult. You get to make that choice. But here’s the thing: I’m also an adult. I get to make choices too. And I choose not to live with irrational fear. I’m protected. I’m responsible. And I’ll ditch the mask where I see fit.
