Woman shot, injured by police; man found dead during Puyallup welfare check

A woman shot at officers as they responded to a welfare check at a home on Valley Avenue Northeast on Monday night.
After the woman fire multiple shots toward officers, Puyallup Police say officers returned fire. The suspect was struck and injured, and officers took her into custody. She was taken to a local hospital.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
The officers initially came to the home because they been asked to check on the woman’s husband. His parents had reported that they had not heard from their son since the day before. The man, in his early 30s, reportedly lived at this residence with his wife and four children.
When officers went inside the home, they found the man’s body. It’s not known how he died.
The couple’s children were inside the home, but were removed from the residence before the shooting.
A Tactical Response Team made up of multiple agencies responded, along with several negotiators. The Pierce County Force Investigation Team will investigate the shooting.
