Tacoma police say two women and two men were killed in a shooting Thursday.
One man was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, but police say he has died from his injuries. All victims were reportedly adults.
Detectives and crime scene technicians responded to the scene in the area of 4200 Everett Street around 4:30 p.m. Police say the shooting occurred entirely outside, starting in an alley between two homes before extending into the “front yard of a residence.”
TPD had initially locked down the neighborhood immediately after arriving at the scene, asking residents to stay in their homes and telling others to stay out of the area during the investigation. The lockdown was later lifted, but several blocks remained cordoned off as the investigation extended well into the latter hours of Thursday night.
Police don’t know if there was one or multiple shooters, according to KIRO 7. It’s also unclear the motivation for the shooting at this time.
“This is a horrific crime,” Tacoma Public Information Officer Wendy Haddow said at the scene, according to KIRO 7. “At this time I cannot say whether there was one or multiple shooters.”
Police have not released any details about the victims, nor have they released any information about a possible suspect or suspects. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Tacoma Police tip line at 800-222-TIPS.
