Sara Nelson solidifies win in race for Seattle Position 9 at-large council seat
With a large majority of votes now tallied, Sara Nelson is nearing victory in the race for Seattle’s Position 9 at-large city council seat, garnering 54% of the as of Monday. Trailing is Nikkita Oliver with 46% of the vote.
Oliver made up ground in recent tallies after being down by double-digit points on election night, but ultimately it wasn’t enough to overcome their early deficit.
Nelson co-owns Fremont Brewing. She served as a legislative advisor to former councilmember Richard Conlin and placed third in a 2017 at-large city council primary.
Oliver, an attorney and the executive director of the organization Creative Justice, was a founding member of the Seattle Peoples Party. They placed third in the 2017 mayoral primary.
