Road crews spent half the day Friday cleaning up a pile of fish guts spilled all over US 101 in Pacific County.

“There was this semi with a load of fish guts, head and parts, coming from a rendering plant near Willapa,” said State Trooper Russ Winger.

He said righting the semi and scooping up the fish guts would be relatively easy. Washing the slime off the road would take much longer.

The semi apparently tipped over as it went around a curve and the load shifted near the Willapa Wildlife Refuge about 20 miles north of the Columbia River.
