‘Gobble gobble, easy on the throttle’: WSDOT changes up road signs for holiday drivers

Hitting the road for Thanksgiving weekend? The Washington State Department of Transportation switched up its road signs for the holiday, with helpful messages for Washington State University students driving home along SR 26 and US 195.
As pandemic still looms, ‘your level of concern is up to you’ for holiday travel
The signs bear a handful of Thanksgiving-themed road safety messages, ranging from “Gobble gobble, go easy on the throttle” to “Turkeys can’t text, neither should you.” This operates as part of a yearly tradition for WSDOT, in hopes of providing advice for WSU students making their way home in winter weather conditions.
Washington State Patrol has also been conducting emphasis patrols along SR 26 through Whitman, Adams, and Grant counties this week, advising drivers to “slow down, take breaks, and be mindful.”
