Police are investigating after two people were injured in a shooting in a parking lot right outside the east entrance of the JCPenney at Southcenter Mall in Tukwila.

The shooting occurred just after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Tukwila police said a woman and a man were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with critical injuries.

KIRO 7 cameras spotted medics working on at least two people in the parking lot before they were taken to Harborview.

It is not yet known what led to the shooting.

Officers said there is no “active threat” to the public, and the incident is believed to be isolated.

Tukwila police said the suspect was reported to have fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

Two men were previously injured in a shooting at Southcenter Mall on May 1. Shoppers heard shots near the JCPenney around 12:30 p.m. Many shoppers hid or sheltered in place inside the mall while police spent hours combing each store. Police said that shooting was an isolated incident between known individuals.
