Wednesday deadline for 2022 health care coverage through Washington Healthplanfinder

The deadline to enroll in health care coverage through Washington Healthplanfinder for 2022 expires in a matter of days (Dec. 15), with Washington lawmakers urging the state to sign up for health care as soon as possible before that time.
The insurance marketplace reports that more 217,000 customers have selected a new plan or re-enrolled in existing coverage for the new year.
“The past year revealed how important health care coverage is to people, and the American Rescue Plan Act is bringing more savings to our customers than ever before,” wrote Washington Health Benefit Exchange CEO Pam MacEwan in a news release. “Now is the best time to get covered and we encourage everyone to do so by Dec. 15 so their coverage can start on Jan. 1.”

The American Rescue Plan Act expanded health care to those not covered in years past. Washington Healthplanfinder reports that the total number of customers who qualify for premium monthly savings increases by 8% when compared with last year. Furthermore, more than 14,000 new customers have found coverage through the marketplace, paying $125 a month for insurance on average.
The Affordable Care Act could get a shot in the arm if President Biden’s Build Back Better Act clears the U.S. Senate. As passed by the House of Representatives, the bill would provide $130 billion in tax credits to help subsidize health care coverage, providing assistance to some four million uninsured individuals through 2025.
