A community vaccination site has opened in Federal Way, and will move to Auburn in January.

Gov. Inslee says two blessings of 2021 holiday season are boosters, masks

The Mobile Community Vaccination Center is run by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and will provide free COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters to everyone ages 5 and older. It has the capacity to vaccinate 300-500 people per day.

The vaccinations will be at the Federal Way Performing Arts and Event Center until Jan. 3, and then at the Auburn GSA starting Jan. 5, through Jan. 20.

Language and ASL interpretation are available on site. The vaccination center is also ADA accessible. To request assistance for people with disabilities, call the state COVID-19 Information Hotline at 1-800-525-0127.

Make an appointment to get vaccinated at the Federal Way or Auburn site here.

You can also find a COVID-19 vaccine near you by calling your doctor’s office or health care provider, or using the state’s Vaccine Locator tool.

King County also has a list of local vaccination sites here. Appointments are required.

State recognizes difficulty finding booster shots, assures there is ‘plenty of supply’

While appointments for booster doses have been hard to find for some Washington residents, the Washington State Department of Health promises there are enough shots for everyone, but there are not enough appointments to meet demand at this time.

“There are certain areas, geographically, where there may be more of that supply-demand mismatch, if you will,” said Dr. Umair Shah, the state secretary of health.

“We’ve got plenty of supply, it’s just making sure that it gets to the right places,” Shah added.

South King County is one of the areas where there is a lack of appointments, and the FEMA site was moved there from Thurston County in hopes of increasing capacity for the area.
