A 38-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital Tuesday when she was attacked by dogs along 45th Place South in Auburn.

The woman was reportedly jogging when she was attacked by two dogs from a nearby property. Officers responding to the scene shot and killed one animal, the other of which was removed to an animal shelter in Kent.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the woman is in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center.

Officials report the case will be referred to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, pending an investigation by the King County Sheriff’s Office and the Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC).

The property is no stranger to dog attacks, although the animals responsible for earlier incidents are reportedly of a different breed.

“There were several complaints against German Shepherds at the property over a long period of at least a couple of years,” an animal services spokesperson told KIRO Newsradio. “And those dogs, two adult German Shepherds and six puppies, were removed from the home in August of 2021. The dogs were not returned to the owner.”

Since 2020, RASKC reports six complaints in total against the property and thousands of dollars in fines levied against the owner.

In this instance, prosecutors indicate the possibility of felony charges against the owners.
