Tacoma offering grants for small businesses to replace broken windows

The City of Tacoma is launching a program to help small businesses replace their broken windows.
Tacoma has budgeted to help more than 100 businesses to fix their windows, estimating it will cost about $2,500 each. That money will come from the American Rescue Plan Act funding. The total availability of funds for this grant program is $300,000.
In a release from the city, it states that this program is “part of efforts to alleviate ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Tacoma’s small business community.”
The details of the window replacement grant program were informed by input from the City Council’s Economic Development Committee, developed by the City of Tacoma’s Community and Economic Development Department.
Neighbors concerned about mega-warehouse proposed in South Tacoma
Owners of businesses with no more than 15 full-time employees are eligible to apply online to be included in the program starting Monday, March 7, through March 28. Grant winners will be announced in the first week of April, selected by random lottery.
