Former Seattle Seahawks star Richard Sherman pleaded guilty Monday in King County District Court to three misdemeanor charges stemming from his arrest in July of 2021.

Former Seahawks CB Richard Sherman reveals counseling, medication after July arrest

Sherman initially pleaded not guilty to five misdemeanor charges last summer. After changing his plea to guilty, he has now been convicted of negligent driving in the first degree, criminal trespassing in the second degree, and speeding in a construction zone. Charges for resisting arrest and malicious mischief were dropped by the county. Speeding in a construction zone amounts to a gross misdemeanor charge; negligent driving and criminal trespassing are misdemeanors under Washington state law.

The court sentenced Sherman to two days in jail with credit for two days time served, and ordered supervision for 24 months.

In a statement released Monday, the King County Prosecutor’s Office insisted that Sherman “did not get special treatment” in his sentencing.

The charges followed a night in July of 2021, when Redmond police arrested Sherman after he had crashed his car and attempted to break into his father-in-law’s Redmond home.

Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe reported in the summer that Sherman resisted arrest, and a K9 team was deployed to assist in gaining control of the situation.
