Both Snoqualmie and Stevens passes have reopened after multiple collisions and spinouts caused the roads to shut down Saturday.

Heavy snow fell in the mountains and continued to fall throughout the day.

Westbound Interstate Highway 90 at milepost 106 near Ellensburg and eastbound I-90 at milepost 34 in North Bend were closed. At 5:03 p.m., the eastbound interstate reopened, and at 8:58 p.m. Washington Department of Transportation crews reopened the westbound highway.

The collisions on Snoqualmie involved 15 to 20 cars, WSDOT said.

While road crews were working to reopen Snoqualmie Pass at 5:57 p.m., multiple spinouts and crashes shut down westbound U.S. 2 Stevens Pass, which reopened later at 10:40 p.m.

No injuries were reported on either pass.

However, WSDOT tweeted traction tires were required on Stevens Pass.

Drivers were also advised to allow for plenty of space between cars while traveling on the roadways.

KIRO 7 Meteorologist Ilona McCauley said there was snow through the mountain passes.
