As part of his first trip to the Pacific Northwest since he took office, President Joe Biden is scheduled to arrive in Seattle Thursday night, and will speak at Green River College in Auburn the following day.
According to his itinerary, he will arrive at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport at 5:15 p.m., before heading to a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee in Seattle at 6:30 p.m.
Biden will then deliver a speech at the Green River College Student Union building on Friday centered around Earth Day. The event will be invitation only. He is expected to address initiatives to fight climate change, limiting price increases for middle class families, and his push to have Congress approve legislation to reduce prescription drug costs.
Washington State Patrol is warning drivers that there will be “intermittent heavy congestion” in the Seattle area between Thursday evening and Friday “due to temporary closures of the freeway” while Biden moves through the city.
#TrafficAlert for tomorrow evening and Friday in the Seattle metropolitan area. Expect intermittent heavy congestion due to temporary closures of the freeway system due to a Presidential visit.

Sea-Tac Airport is also warning of travel delays “during the early evening hours” of Thursday to prepare for Air Force One. Due to security protocols, that will have all air traffic halted for at least 30 minutes before and after Biden’s arrival, which will affect both flights and roadways in an out of the airport.
Prior to his visit to Seattle, he will arrive in Portland just before 1 p.m. on Thursday to “highlight critical investments that will ensure stronger, more resilient infrastructure,” particularly as it relates to “an earthquake-resilient runway” at Portland International Airport. He will then deliver remarks at the Portland Air National Guard Base, before heading to a fundraiser.
