The Mora Iced Creamery on Bainbridge Island has been named as the best ice cream in the U.S. by Food & Wine Magazine.
The company was praised for its artisanal flavors, like lavender and rose petal, as well as for more unique specialty flavors like sabayon (described as an “Italian Marsala wine custard”), and pear sorbet.
Owner Jerry Perez says they make everything from scratch.
“We hand sqeeze every lemon, orange, lime. We don’t use any premixed powder, magic ingredient,” says Perez.
The creamery has three stores in the Kitsap Peninsula region: Bainbridge Island, Poulsbo, and Kingston. Mora’s products have also recently launched online through their website.
The 8-year-old artisan ice cream company has won several awards in the last few years, including a Reader’s Choice Award by West Sound Home & Garden readers in the March “Best of Food & Wine” issue.
Last year, the Seattle Weekly named it the best ice cream parlor in Seattle.
