The Seattle Police Department tweeted that a man was taken into custody after shots were fired from an apartment balcony Saturday evening.

Officers were called before 6:45 p.m. to the 1000 block of East John Street and attempted to get the man to surrender.

After an hours-long standoff, SWAT officers arrested the man.

Shortly before the arrest, a very loud boom was heard.

Police told a KIRO 7 crew at the scene that a flash-bang grenade was used.

No injuries were reported.

People living nearby were also evacuated during the standoff.

Police did not say what caused the man to fire the gun.

The investigation is ongoing.
