A new Topgolf, an electronic, indoor driving range with specialized RFID trackers in the golf balls, is set to open in Renton this Friday, July 29.

Topgolf Entertainment Group, a global sports and golf entertainment company, announced the opening of its 78th venue and its first in the tech hub of the Seattle area. The location has 74,000 square feet, 102 hitting bays spread across three stories, a 4.4-acre driving range, and three indoor swing suites.

A key feature of the Topgolf brand is the patented Toptracer system that the company uses to track golf balls at the driving range, giving players the unique experience of having data on each of their drives and allowing them to play golf games like Angry Birds and Jewel Jam from the comfort of the climate-controlled bays.  There will also be a giant TV wall, brand-new ball dispenser units, and three swing suits, giving players an option to play virtual golf in a simulator.

“Bringing our technology-enabled golf experience to Players across the Greater Seattle area where tech is at the center of everything is something we have been looking forward to for many years,” said Topgolf Chief Operating Officer Gen Gray. “As we open the doors of our outdoor venue for the first time in the state of Washington, we look forward to welcoming to the community more ways to play the game of golf in their own way.”

The first venue to serve the state of Washington will feature the company’s first skylit central atrium architecture design and will have a chef-inspired menu, drinks, music performances, and special events year-round.

The facility will also employ around 500 “playmakers” from the local area.

Located off Logan Ave near the Boeing factory in Renton, more information about the new space is available online.
