Patty Murray and Tiffany Smiley are leading in the primary election race for the U.S. Senate, garnering 53.8% and 32.3% of the vote, respectively.

17 challengers filed for the election against incumbent Patty Murray. The third most senior member of the U.S. Senate is seeking her sixth term in office.

Tiffany Smiley is seeking her first term in office. The veterans’ advocate was shaped by her experience caring for her husband after he was severely wounded while serving the U.S. Army in a deployment to Iraq.
