The Chinese People’s Liberation Army reacted to Nancy Pelosi’s Taiwan visit with fiery rhetoric, and a fireworks show. Many Chinese social media users reacted with disappointment and frustration that an actual invasion of Taiwan didn’t materialize.

“Act like a great nation!” one WeiBo user posted. Many compared the People’s Liberation Army to the hapless China Men’s Soccer team that’s only qualified for the World Cup once.
