Hilaree Nelson, a ski mountaineer and the first woman to summit Everest and Lhotse in one 24-hour push, is missing after apparently falling into a crevasse in Nepal, according to The New York Times.

Nelson and her partner, Jim Morrison, were attempting to ski down from the peak of Manaslu on Monday, the world’s eighth-tallest peak.

According to the Times, the couple cried, “Summit success!” atop the 26,781-foot peak.

They used a satellite phone to notify Jiban Ghimire, the owner of Shangri-La Nepal Trek, the group that organized their trip.

Afterwards, the couple strapped on their skis and headed down the slope.

Fifteen minutes later, their guides radioed Ghimire again: “Big problem.”

According to the Times, Nelson appeared to have fallen into a 2,000-foot crevasse.

Her condition is unknown.

After the incident, around four and a half hours later, Morrison arrived at the base camp seeking help.

According to The North Face, Nelson grew up in Seattle and started skiing at the age of 3 on the weekends at Stevens Pass.

According to Men’s Journal, Nelson was named one of the 25 most adventurous women in the world.
