T-Mobile Park announces watch party for Mariners’ wild card games

With the Mariners breaking their infamous playoff drought last Friday, T-Mobile Park will convert itself into an amphitheater to host thousands of fans for Seattle’s upcoming wild card playoff games.

Mariners will not be hosting playoff games this weekend
“We’re ready to throw some incredible watch parties here at T-Mobile Park,” the Mariners wrote in a press release. “A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Mariners Care Foundation. Let’s pack the park and make sure our guys can hear us cheering from over 2,000 miles away!”
‘It was the craziest thing ever’: Mariners end playoff drought and party is on
After losing to the Detroit Tigers 4-3 Monday, paired with a 5-1 Toronto Blue Jays victory over the Baltimore Orioles, the Mariners will officially be on the road for their first playoff baseball in 21 years.
The game will be broadcast on MarinersVision, one of the largest screens in the Pacific Northwest, and there will also be music and surprises for fans.
Tickets for the T-Mobile Park watch party are $10 across the board for main-level seating (foul pole to foul pole). Season ticket holders pay half price, with parking costing an additional $10.
All concessions will be available.
Game times and opponents are still to be determined, but tickets are on sale now.
The MLB has converted its playoff format to encompass more teams, with the top two teams in each league receiving a first-round bye. In the American League (AL), the division-rival Houston Astros and the New York Yankees will receive this year’s playoff byes.
The top two seeded wildcard teams (currently the Toronto Blue Jays and the Mariners) go head-to-head, while the last ranked wildcard team (the Tampa Bay Rays) would have to take on the AL Central champion Cleveland Guardians.
The single wild card elimination game used in years past has been replaced this year with a best-of-three wild card series.
The Mariners lead the Rays by 1.5 games with three games to play in the regular season, narrowing the Mariners’ magic number to clinch the second wild-card spot down to two.
With a Mariners win and a Rays loss, the Mariners would face the Blue Jays. If the Rays claim the second spot and the Mariners fall to third, the Mariners would travel to Cleveland to face the Guardians.
