The Seattle Times had a recent piece entitled “Do Uber and Lyft worsen Seattle’s traffic problems?”

Related: Are you ready for a world without truth?

Uber and Lyft are being singled out because they are eating into a government revenue source — cabs. Yellow Cab lobbies the hell out of government. They buy government regulation in every city they dominate. In New York City, the cabbie medallions used to go for $900,000 dollars. That’s just for the right to own a cab.

The Times piece says that Uber could undermine taxi services. Who cares? Why do I care about one business undermining another?

Transportation officials say that rideshare services may worsen traffic during commute hours, but they don’t have any data on this! No data at all. Maybe they are also helping!

As always, please listen to the full audio clip for complete context.
