WATCH: Bertha finally in broad daylight

Bertha broke through to the surface on April 4. But the massive machine under Seattle had to wait until this week to fully emerge from the new tunnel.

The braces holding back the concrete wall that Bertha busted through were not completely removed until Thursday. Now, the machine has moved completely out of the tunnel and onto a cradle within the receiving pit. In the time lapse video above, you can see all the work crews went through to get the machine into the open.
