There’s a good chance we will at least tie the record for the highest temperature during Memorial Day weekend in the Seattle area, according to the latest forecasts.
The record high temperature during Memorial Day weekend in Seattle is 84 degrees. That was recorded in 1995, according to the National Weather Service.
Meteorologists are calling for highs in the low 80s Saturday through Monday. KIRO 7’s Nick Allard says we could see highs of 84 degrees on Sunday and Monday.
Observations in Seattle began in 1986. They began in 1945 in Sea-Tac, where the record high for Memorial Day weekend is 87 degrees, recorded in 1956.
The record low in Seattle is 45 degrees over the holiday weekend — recorded in 2009. The outside temperature this weekend isn’t expected to drop below 50 degrees.
Since 2007, we haven’t come close to the record. The closest the area came to the record was last year with a high of 71 degrees.
