Thousands turn out for anti-gun violence marches across Washington

Thousands of people across attended the March for Our Lives demonstrations in Western Washington on Saturday.

According to Moms Demand Action, the marches and rallies were aimed at taking “to the streets to demand that their lives and safety become a priority, and that we end gun violence in our schools and communities.”
Nationwide, there were 830 marches listed on the March for Our Lives website. In Washington state alone, there were nearly 30 demonstration listed, including Olympia, Tacoma, and Everett.

In Seattle, marchers met at Cal Anderson Park on Saturday morning. The crowd marched down Pine Street, 4th Avenue, 5th Avenue, and on to the International Fountain at Seattle Center.

March for Our Lives
The marches follow a nationwide walkout where students across the country left class last Wednesday, March 14 to honor 17 people killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School a month earlier. They were also demanding lawmakers do something about gun violence on campus.
