Suspected drunk driver crashes into Pierce County deputy’s car, deputy injured

A Pierce County sheriff’s deputy was injured when a suspected drunk driver crashed into the deputy’s vehicle in Parkland Thursday night.

The crash occurred just after 9:45 p.m. near 125th Street South and Pacific Avenue South.

Though the deputy was originally said to have suffered minor injuries, she will remain in the hospital for a “couple days.”

The Tacoma News Tribune reports the deputy’s patrol car rolled down an embankment after it was hit.

The 25-year-old driver was taken into custody.
