A funnel cloud was spotted in Ballard Sunday afternoon near a Fred Meyer parking lot.
A Twitter user by the name of Capitol Hill Matt captured a video and tweeted it, tagging the National Weather Service which noted that the cloud formation was a funnel cloud.
KIRO 7 meteorologist Morgan Palmer noticed the tweet and added his two cents on the unique weather formation.
Some converging wind/weak wind shear combined with an updraft of a developing downpour created this ominous sight! Weak rotation like this can (rarely) produce waterspouts or very weak tornadoes in these parts. #wawx https://t.co/gvxh1zv3uz
