A spokeswoman for the Seattle Fire Department says it may take several days to extinguish a four-alarm fire in North Queen Anne.

Fire department spokeswoman Kristin Tinsley says firefighters Sunday were putting out hot spots at the three buildings and two sheds, mostly full of lumber owned by Gascoigne Lumber Company and Northwest Millworks. She says embers or smoldering fires could cause the fire to reignite.

Two buildings near Seattle Pacific University collapsed.

The cause of the fire in the 300 block of Ewing Street was not immediately known. There were no reports of injuries.

According to Seattle Pacific University, “several residences” on campus lost power, with people in those buildings evacuated to Gwinn Commons on Sixth Avenue West.

Seattle Fire Department got control over the fire at approximately 10:30 p.m. — about two hours after it was first reported — and crews remained on the scene through the night to investigate.

“I am impressed by the hard work of all firefighters involved in the response,” said Seattle Fire Chief Harold Scoggins, “Thank you to Seattle Police, Seattle City Light, Seattle Public Utilities and our partner fire agencies in King County for helping to keep the Seattle community safe.”

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
