Police searching for suspect in White Center home invasion murder

A renewed search is underway for a suspect accused of killing a man during a home invasion in White Center six weeks ago.

Prosecutors revealed new details Wednesday about what led up to the home invasion. They now believe the suspect was looking to steal cash, but he went to the wrong home.

Police around the state were told to be on high alert for 24-year-old Mical Darion Roberts.

Detectives say Roberts left a trail of his own blood after he kicked his way into a home and started a wild shootout with a man who lived there, who Roberts had never met before.

“He’s extremely dangerous, and as far as we know, he’s still armed, and he could do this anybody else at any time, which is really, scary,” said King County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Ryan Abbott.

On November 19, King County 911 dispatchers said they got a call from a terrified woman hiding in a closet. She whispered someone had broken through the door.

Her boyfriend, 26-year-old Ricardo Villasenor, locked the bedroom door and armed himself.

Police say 21 shots were fired back and forth, and Villasenor was killed.

Friends told police he was a hard-working man with no connection at all to the accused killer.

“He was a fisherman in Alaska, so he’d go and fish for six months and come back home for three months and then go back and forth,” said Abbott.

Detectives believe Roberts was wounded in the shootout because the DNA he left in a blood trail was identified by the state crime lab.

They say Roberts is distinctive, at 6-feet 5-inches tall and weighing more than 250 pounds.

“He knows the police are looking for him. He knows he’s wanted, and we believe he’s getting help from people close to him, to continue to hide him,” said Abbott.

Police say anyone hiding the suspect could be charged with a felony.

There is a $2 million warrant for Robert’s arrest.
