Just a few days into the new Legislative session down in Olympia, the thirst for your money continues as the first bill has dropped from the Democrats in the House of Representatives to try to get an income tax for the state.

We invited the sponsor of House Bill 1172, Rep. Sharon Tomiko Santos (D-Seattle), on the show, but she didn’t come on.

My question for her is, how can you drop a bill that is in direct violation of the state Constitution, that lies to the taxpayers by calling an income tax a capital gains tax?

The bill claims that it will be “assisting Washington families by improving the fairness of the state’s tax system.”

A capital gains tax is an income tax, despite what other local media outlets say. I am begging my brethren in the media to tell the truth. It is settled; capital gains is treated as income. We have proof in writing that the IRS considers a capital gains tax an income tax. An income tax is unconstitutional in Washington.

Why, then, does the media feel that it needs to provide a protection racket to these Democrats? It’s our job in media to be a watchdog of government, not a lapdog. Please start calling this what it is.

What it is, is the the holy grail for Democrats in our state. They will stop at nothing to get it. This is going to be a really interesting legislative session with the Democrats strengthening their majority. Because as we know, they want billions and billions more of your dollars.
