Dori: I predicted Amazon HQ2 wouldn’t succeed in New York

In another case of “I told you so,” Amazon announced on Thursday that it is pulling out of its deal to build HQ2 in New York City. You know who is not shocked? Me.

Here is what I said on Nov. 18, the day they announced they were selecting New York for HQ2.

I truly thought that one of the reasons that Amazon was getting out of here was because they wanted to get away from … the absolute insane politics of our region. So they get away, in part, from the lunatic that is Kshama Sawant — and they are running headlong into the lunatic that is also a Democratic Socialist, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

It made no sense to me that Amazon would go into a city where there were far-Left forces who were clearly going to turn against them.

So, the day they made that announcement, I said that Amazon was nuts. And then it took Bezos three months — during which Seattle City Council members actually went to New York to persuade them not to let big, bad Amazon in — to realize that.

Given enough time, every person, every organization, every entity will eventually come around to my way of thinking on every issue, because it’s just correct.

Hey Jeff Bezos, double my salary, and I’ll be your adviser. After all the millions of dollars and man hours and teams of executives that went into this decision, it turns out it took a kid from Ballard to tell you this plan was crazy. I could’ve saved you all of this trouble.

Call me, Jeff. We’ll talk.
